The Iowa Center’s Small Business Tax Services will help you ensure that you are filing correct, timely, and complete tax returns for your small business, complying with state and federal tax requirements, and maximizing all of the benefits available to you under the tax code.
The Iowa Center’s in-house small business tax professional Mike Smith provides small business tax preparation, files small business tax returns, and recommends strategies to maximize small business tax planning.

Tax Services
Small Business Tax Services offers small business tax preparation and planning services under a sliding scale, flat-rate fee. Fee proposal and estimated completion time will be sent in advance of services.
Each small business tax client receives:
• Federal and Iowa business income tax preparation and filing
• Two in-person meetings
o One tax preparation meeting o One six month check-in
• Tax planning to review all benefits available under the tax code
• Quarterly tax estimate preparation
• Consultation by email and phone
2026 Important Dates
Jan 31, 2026 – W-2 distribution deadline
Jan 31, 2026 – 1099 Form distribution deadline
Mar 17, 2026 – Form 1065 or 11205 filing deadline
Apr 1, 2026 – Claim 1st required minimum distribution
Apr 15, 2026 – Tax Day
Apr 15, 2026 – Extension request deadline
Sep 15, 2026 – Extended filing deadline for S-Corps and Partnerships
Sep 15, 2026 – Extended filing deadline for fiscal-year C-Corps
Oct 15, 2026 – Extended filing deadline for individuals and calendar year C-Corps
2027 Important Dates
Jan 15, 2027: 4th Quarter Estimated Payment for 2026 due
Jan 31, 2027:
o Employers – issue Form W-2 to employees
o Payors – issue Form 1099-NEC to non-employee contractors
Feb 28, 2027:
o Payors: Issue Form 1099(s) to individuals
Mar 15, 2027:
o Partnerships, LLC’s – complete form 1065, submit and issue K-1’s to partners
o S-Corporations – complete form 1120-S
April 15, 2027:
o Corporations – submit Form 1120
o Estates and Trusts – submit Form 1041
o Individuals – submit Form 1040
o Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts – submit FinCEN Form 114
o Extension Request Deadline
o IRA and HSA contribution deadline
o 1st Quarter estimated payment for 2027
May 15, 2027:
o Exempt Organizations – submit Form 990
June 16, 2027: 2nd Quarter Estimated Payment for 2027
September 15, 2027: 3rd Quarter Estimated Payment for 2027
September 15, 2027:
o Extended filing deadline for S-Corporations and Partnerships.
o Extended filing deadline for Fiscal-Year C Corporations
October 15, 2026:
o Extended filing deadline for individuals and calendar year C-Corporations.
January 15, 2028: 4th Quarter Estimated Payment for 2027
