Time: 12 – 1pm

When we think about the old days of traveling and pulling out the road map, it definitely got us where we needed to go, but it didn’t have all the bells and whistles that our GPS systems have today. Think of strategic planning today as more of a GPS system. We need to more than a few goal statements and action steps, we need a process that inspires self-awareness, builds strong teams and identifies the multiple ways to best communicate with employees, customers, shareholders, and the general public.

Tina Mowry Hadden, owner of Mowry Strategies, has been working with clients to develop short- and long- term strategic plans for over 15 years. She brings her journalism background and ability to work with the media to assist business leaders in developing their brands and telling their stories. Join her via Zoom to hear about the strategic planning process she uses with her clients and learn tips for creating a strong branding and business strategy for your business.

a) create a common vision

b) set goals

c) and outline the work-plan to increase the bottom line, develop customer base, offer top-notch customer service and continually tell the story of the business or organization.

About our speaker

Tina Mowry Hadden started her Public Relations and Strategic Planning business in 2003. Raised on the family farm in rural Iowa, the entrepreneurial spirit of her childhood has been a driving force behind the success of her business. Hadden often says, “A strong work ethic and commitment to off the charts customer service are the secrets to my success.”

Hadden has worked with private businesses, nonprofits and local governments to facilitate business strategy and guide branding. A few services we love within central Iowa were early projects Hadden helped get started, such as curbside recycling, bus racks on city buses, and trails throughout the county. She loves working with startups and businesses needing to bring various departments together to create a shared vision. During strategy sessions, Hadden likes to start with individual self-awareness exercises before moving onto the business strategy. “I have learned over the years that spending some time on self-awareness and team building makes for the best strategic planning session.”

Clients benefit from Hadden’s love telling a good story. Her journalism background assists with creating key messages, understanding the many ways to communicate with customers today and developing thought leaders within companies by assisting them in writing their research and knowledge for a general consumer to understand.

Hadden lives in West Des Moines. She and her husband have two sons, a dog and two cats. They love the natural beauty of the world and support nonprofits like Trees Forever, The Great Outdoors Fund and The Brenton Arboretum. Hadden is serving as the President this year for the West Des Moines Community Schools Foundation.
