Avoiding Legal Hazards in Your Small Business
Co-hosted with SCORE + The Iowa Women's Business Center
Entrepreneurs are risk-takers, dreamers, and optimists. No mountain is too high or idea too wild for those with a can-do attitude and a sense of adventure. But, statistics show that 50% of new small businesses no longer exist after five years. Entrepreneurs face many legal challenges that can make it hard to keep the doors open. Things like tax problems or disadvantageous leases can distract business owners from focusing on clients and sales. Join us for a discussion of the most common legal issues that entrepreneurs face along with some practical tips for how to avoid them, so you can focus on doing what you do best – growing your business.
Join us to hear Samantha Wagner from Iowa Legal Aid!
Samantha Wagner is a Staff Attorney at Iowa Legal Aid, where she provides legal services and representation to low-income entrepreneurs in both litigation and transactional matters. She previously worked at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid representing survivors of sexual violence. Samantha graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School, and recieved her Bachelor of Arts from Drake University. She is admitted to practice law in iowa, Wisconsin, and Texas. Samandtha has extensive experience working with immigrants and works to provide culturally-competent and creative solutions to clients' legal issues. In her free time, she works to destigmatize mental health, especially for the legal profession, and serves as a cultural ambassador for the Midwest.
